If you are seeking God there will always be a call to come higher. In every season you will learn something of yourself that will have to change for the better. We will be learning and growing until we die. If you are doing life right anyway.
Everything you have been through has had an impact on you. It's not for you to dwell in the pain but for you to become who the world needs. Who you need to be. You have a unique outlook on the world. You have a story to tell that no one can tell for you. There will always be someone who tries but it belongs to you.
I say all that to say. Strengthening your relationship with God shouldn't cause you to become a person no one can connect to. Actually, the opposite getting closer to God should allow you to be more vulnerable and transparent than you have ever been. You went through things to have empathy and compassion. Also to have discernment and common sense. God wants you to be willing not naive. It won't look the same with all of us we all experienced different things even in the same household.
It is important you show up authentic to who you are daily. God can't use who you pretend to be. You can't bible thump people down and they feel you are ingenuine. Show up it is our duty to spread the love and knowledge of Jesus Christ but as a human. It's okay to talk to people regular. It's okay not to act like if they cuss it is the first curse word you have heard. It's ok to see them doing the wrong thing and talk to them about it without judgement. We have all been there before, and maybe it isn't the sin they are doing but we all sin daily. It's ok to admit that.
