I woke up to read my bible and Joshua 6 opened up. The story of Jericho. Joshua sent spies, but God was already ahead of them. When the spies got to the city Rahab the woman that hid them already told them that they were all terrified that they were coming.
God gave instruction to Josha to give to the people. Every day they would circle the city of Jericho one time leading with the seven priests, with seven horns ahead of the chest of the covenant and all his soldiers for six days. The priests blowing the horns as they circled on the seventh day, the circled seven times, the priests blew their horns, and Josha signaled for the people to shout. Telling them God had given them the city. They shouted and clapped, and the walls came crashing down.
Joshua gave the people strict orders that Jericho was under a holy curse. That all the old, silver, bronze, and iron was to go to God's treasury but nothing else was to be taken. Everything killed and burned and so they did. As the walls fell everyone was killed but Rahab and her family.
All they had to do was be obedient. God had gone ahead of them. The city was already scared just hearing they were coming. God had already told Joshua the city was theirs. God brought down the wall and let them in. God has all the power, and he is giving us dominion over the land to reclaim his kingdom. Do you trust him enough to follow instructions?
